February 22, 2024 – AT&T experienced a widespread outage, which lasted for several hours, affecting approximately 75,000 people in cities across the country. Frustration grew as customers could not make or receive calls or texts; 911 calls were also affected. Customers with landline services were able to transact business as usual and many shared their phones with neighbors who were shut off from the world by this incident. What would you have done in this situation? Truthfully, our cell phones are temperamental: running out of minutes, power or even facing dead zones. My cell phone even makes calls when I’m not looking.
