Groceries costs are devastating to individuals and families. Even before the shut down, many struggled to make ends meet. Case: An elderly lady at the market checkout counter, was seen with several cans of dog food; a counselor from Phila. Senate On Aging, acquainted with her, was shocked because she knew the lady didn’t own a dog. She spoke with her and was told that a rent increase and rising food prices made her cut corners to survive. They met a few days later. The counselor worked diligently with several agencies and within a few weeks the client received: SNAP, Meals On Wheels and Senior Boxes. No more dog food! In the interim, a small nonprofit delivered a week’s supply (3 meals/day) until the benefits started. There are millions of individuals and families “robbing Peter to pay Paul” especially during this very precarious period in our nation.
This list of 138 food pantries/cupboards was compiled to help people of all ages, socioeconomic status, races, etc. keep food on the table. These organizations have proven “where there is unity, there is strength. God promised to provide. Never, Never Give Up!
